Boarding - Reactive Dogs
We believe every dog deserves kindness, structure, and a chance to feel safe.
Service Description
At ORLAGH’S, we recognise that not every dog fits neatly into the same mould. Some carry extra worries, anxieties, or strong reactions to other dogs, people, or environments. These dogs are often labelled as “reactive” — but to us, they are simply dogs who need patience, understanding, and the right environment to thrive. What We Stand By 🐾 Safety First, Always • Reactive dogs require structure, security, and calm handling. At ORLAGH’S, we provide escape-proof, well-managed spaces where they can relax without the pressure of crowded environments. • Our staff are trained in canine behaviour and first aid, ensuring every interaction is carefully supervised and managed with safety in mind — for both the reactive dog and others in our care. 🐾 Patience and Respect • We never use force, fear, or punishment with reactive dogs. Instead, we rely on gentle, positive reinforcement, clear communication, and respect for their boundaries. • Every dog is treated as an individual, with adjustments to routines, exercise, and enrichment tailored to their comfort level. 🐾 Our Labrador Companions • We are fortunate to share our lives with two well-trained chocolate Labradors who embody calm, tolerance, and steadiness. • They have been raised in an environment of positive reinforcement and social awareness, making them excellent role models for nervous or reactive dogs. • With their patience and non-reactive nature, they offer a balanced presence — calmly showing new dogs that there is no need for fear, pressure, or overreaction. • For many reactive dogs, spending time alongside our Labs (at their own pace) provides comfort, confidence, and the first step towards calmer socialisation. 🐾 Calm Enrichment & Emotional Support • We create structured daily routines designed to reduce stress, prevent overstimulation, and build trust. • Enrichment activities, such as scent work, puzzle toys, and quiet walks, give reactive dogs positive outlets for their energy and emotions. • Rest areas are designed for calm and safety, ensuring they always have a secure space to retreat when they need it. 🐾 Owner Partnership & Transparency • We work closely with owners to understand each reactive dog’s unique triggers, history, and coping strategies. • Updates, feedback, and open communication are a cornerstone of our care. You will always know how your dog is settling, progressing, and being supported.
