Crate & Toilet Training

Making the crate a happy den and building great toilet habits — accidents and all.

This guide is for information only. It doesn’t replace advice from your vet or a qualified behaviourist — if you’re ever worried, call your vet.

Lesson 1

The crate is a cosy den

Crate training mimics a den, offering your puppy safety and helping with house training. Choose a crate that’s the right size — not too large. Make it cosy and inviting: feed meals inside with the door open at first, and add a soft toy. Start with short intervals and reward calm behaviour. The golden rule: never use the crate for punishment. Dogs thrive when they see it as their safe place.
